MiDNI is an official app, developed by the Spanish National Police, which allows you to get your National Identity Card in digital format with the same validity and security as the physical version. Thanks to this tool, you can identify yourself quickly without having to carry your physical ID card with you.

Easy registration and activation

To start using MiDNI you just need a valid ID card and a smartphone. Registering is quite simple and you can do so in three ways. Specifically, you can choose to register online on the Spanish Government website if you have an electronic ID card and a card reader. You can also complete the process at a police station, using a document update station. Your final option is to go to an official documentation unit and have a professional help you complete the process.

Enter the activation data in the app

After registering, you just need to download the app to enter the activation data. From the initial screen you can set a secure password and, to increase privacy, even enable biometric access via fingerprint or facial recognition.

How to use the MiDNI app to save your ID card on your cell phone

To access your MiDNI profile, you just need to unlock the app with your password or biometrics. Once inside, your photo and your data will appear, which for security reasons will only remain on screen for a few seconds and will not be stored on the smartphone. When proving your identity to another person or entity, you can use the Show your ID card option to use one of the three different display formats.

DNI age

Displays a QR code that only certifies if you are of legal age.

Simple DNI

Includes your photo, name, date of birth, sex and your ID card's date of expiry.

Full DNI

Displays all the data of your ID document after a previous confirmation.

In all cases, the generated QR code will only be valid for a few seconds and the verification will be done with the MiDNI app. This ensures that the data is authentic and secure.
